Cookie Policy - VPN Runner

Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies VPN Runner uses, and how you can control them. For the bigger picture of how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things between visits, such as your preferences, or helps site owners measure how visitors use their pages. Some cookies are set by the site you are visiting (first-party cookies); others are set by other companies whose content or tools the site uses (third-party cookies).

Which cookies we use

VPN Runner uses three groups of cookies:

1. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4). We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are popular, how long people stay, and roughly where visitors come from. These cookies have names like _ga, _ga_*, and _gid. They are pseudonymous, meaning they identify a browser, not a person. They help us improve the site’s content and layout.

2. Affiliate and third-party cookies. VPN Runner earns revenue through affiliate links to VPN providers. When you click one of these links, you may first pass through our redirect service, and the VPN provider (or their affiliate network) may set their own cookies on your device. These cookies let the provider know that your visit came from us, so we can be credited for the referral. This only happens when you click an outbound link to a provider; simply reading the site does not trigger it.

3. Functional cookies (WordPress). The site runs on WordPress, which sets a small number of basic cookies needed for the site to work. These include a session cookie and a cookie that remembers your consent choice for this very banner. They do not track you across the web.

We do not run advertising cookies of our own, and we do not use cookies for comments, accounts, or newsletters, because the site has none of those.

Why we use them

  • Analytics cookies: to measure traffic and improve the site.
  • Affiliate cookies: to track referrals so the site can earn revenue and stay free to read.
  • Functional cookies: to keep the site working properly.

How to block or delete cookies

You are in control. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Settings (or Preferences) > Privacy.
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions.

You can also delete cookies that have already been set, which will stop them from being used further. Note that blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of the site work, since the functional cookies are needed for basic operation.

If your browser supports “Do Not Track” signals, be aware that there is no universal standard for how sites should respond to them. Our analytics setup follows Google’s standard data controls.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we change the tools the site uses. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
