Privacy Policy - VPN Runner

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data VPN Runner collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We keep it plain and practical, because a privacy policy should be something you can actually read.

Who we are

VPN Runner is an independent VPN comparison site. It is built, managed, and owned by Leadonist, LLC, a company registered in Florida, United States.

Controller: Leadonist, LLC

What we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. There are three kinds of information we handle:

1. Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, how long they stay, roughly where they come from, and what device and browser they use. This data is aggregated and pseudonymous. We do not see your name, your email address, or anything that directly identifies you from analytics.

2. Affiliate click data. VPN Runner earns revenue through affiliate links. When you click a link to a VPN provider, you may first pass through our own redirect service, which records that a click happened and which link you clicked. This helps us measure which recommendations are useful and report performance to our affiliate partners. Once you leave our site, the VPN provider’s own privacy policy applies, and they may set their own cookies or collect their own data.

3. Emails you send us. If you contact us at hello@vpnrunner.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to respond to you.

We do not run user accounts, comments, or a newsletter, so we do not collect passwords, profile information, or subscription details. There is nothing to sign up for.

Why we collect it

  • Site improvement: Analytics helps us see which content is useful and where the site needs work.
  • Revenue: Affiliate clicks are how the site pays for itself. The click data lets us report honestly to our partners and keeps our reviews free to read.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Third parties

A small number of third parties are involved in running this site:

  • Google (Analytics and Tag Manager): Processes the analytics data described above. Google may process this data on servers in the United States and other countries. You can read Google’s own privacy policy for details.
  • Affiliate networks and VPN providers: When you click an outbound affiliate link, the VPN provider (and in some cases their affiliate network) may set third-party cookies or collect data on their own site. This is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

We do not share your email address or any contact information with these third parties.

Data retention

We keep analytics data for the standard period set in Google Analytics (currently up to 14 months), after which it is deleted automatically. Affiliate click logs are kept for as long as needed for accounting and partner reporting, and no longer. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your request, then archived or deleted. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized.

Your rights (US and California)

Under United States law, and specifically under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the following rights:

  • Right to know: You can ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, and why.
  • Right to delete: You can ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, with certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: We do not sell your personal information. If you believe any of our data practices amount to “sharing” under California law (for example, analytics or affiliate tracking), you can opt out by using the cookie controls described in our Cookie Policy or by contacting us.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Residents of other US states with similar privacy laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others) have comparable rights to access, correct, and delete their personal data.

How to exercise your rights

Email hello@vpnrunner.com with your request. Tell us which right you want to exercise and enough detail for us to find the relevant data. We will respond within 45 days, and we may need to verify your identity first. There is no fee for this.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add a new tool or change how the site works. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the site. Continued use of VPN Runner after a change means you accept the updated policy.
